The pen fidgeted in her trembling hand. Education.. Eyebrows furrowed into knotted frustration. Why did every single one of these applications have an "education" section? It wasn't like she was applying to be some CEO! Like, what was the big deal with having a fancy-schmancy degree? Savannah shoved the incomplete application into her bag.

A pink hue flushed her normally pale cheeks as she stared at her bag. She wasn't actually mad but simply embarrassed by her background, her education level, where she was raised -- all of that and more. Savannah never realized how insecure the topic made her until she set foot in Slateport City. The second she had arrived in Slateport Harbor she felt dizzy from all of the overwhelming sights and sounds. 

Savannah was fairly certain there were more people in this one city than in all of Orre. Although that statistic was probably not true.. Maybe. All she knew was her tiny, decrepit town of Pyrite and "the Under" that lurked beneath it. The education offered to her when she was young had been limited (and that was putting it lightly). The teachers nor most students cared. A lot dropped out to join gangs or work in order to help provide for their families: Savannah was one of the latter. 

The population of Slateport City was... Well, there were some nice people but a lot seemed too busy scurrying about their day, eyes glued to their advanced cellphones. Since when could phones access the internet? It was all so confusing and mind-boggling. There were many who looked down upon her: calling her a bumpkin or a hick. She had returned to the location of an interview as she forgot something.. only to find the interviewer and some fellow employees laughing at her expense. It was certainly an eye-opening experience. 

After the mayhem in the safari zone, she should have continued on her way. What had possessed her to turn back to this city? Well, for one, she knew the location and, secondly, she desperately needed a job. ASAP. Most of her meager savings had been used on the voyage to Hoenn.. which was beginning to think was a huge mistake.

Hair covered her face as her head hung low in defeat. In the distance, the jubilee and merriment of the large festival could be heard. Savannah didn't dare get too close, worried about the potential judging eyes that would be drawn to her. That was a little self-centered, wasn't it? Despite the situation, she chuckled to herself. As if people would really take the time to notice her. Honestly, she was overthinking her visibility in the eyes of the established public.

After all, she was just some bumpkin from a region that wasn't even included on some maps.
